To view the latest stories for a specific company:

The latest stories for a Microsoft can be viewed using either a ticker or company id search. For example, enter the following in the instrument/item field:

TICKER=MSFT
COMPID=17365 (a list of company IDs can be provided)

For each story, the following will be provided in the results:

The headline in the <HeadlineText> field
The time the story is released in the <ItemTime>
The provider name in the < ProviderName>: such as Business Wire, AP Online
The story ID in the <storyid>
The story URL in the <StoryUrl>

To view one of the headlines, retrieve it from the <HeadlineText> field/tag (double click if using the Dataworks Enterprise client)

To view the text of a specific story in XML:

Retrieve the URL from the <StoryURL> field/tag (double click on it if using the Dataworks Enterprise client)
Copy and paste the URL in a browser to vie the actual text of the story

Search by story ID:

Using the following syntax: SID=XXXX. Example: SID=20011114375.2_a6d40003b527f20c
The result set should include the following: the headline, the provider name, the provider ID, URL, the tagline, the terms and conditions, the ticker symbol, the feed time and the topic
Double click on the <StoryText> field to view the whole story

To limit the number of stories to view for a company:

In the item field, append the syntax NUM=n (where n is the number of stories wanted) to a regular search request. For example:

TICKER=MSFT NUM=5: will only retrieve 5 stories
COMPID=17365 NUM=6: will only retrieve 6 stories

Follow same steps listed above to view the headline or the text of the story

To search stories or headlines by date:

For a specific date search:

Enter the following in the instrument/item field: DATE1=MM/DD/YY COMPID=XXXX.
Example: DATE1=02/13/2002 COMPID=17365

For a date range:

Enter the following in the instrument field: DATE1=MM/DD/YY DATE2=MM/DD/YY COMPID=XXXX.
Example: DATE1=02/01/2002 DATE2=02/13/2002 COMPID=17365
For each story, the following fields will be available for both types of searches:
The headline in the < HeadlineText> field/tag
The time the story is released in the <ItemTime> field/tag (i.e.: 2/13/2002 9:05:25 PM)
The provider name in the < ProviderName> tag/field (i.e.: Business Wire, AP Online)
The story ID in the <StoryId>
The story URL in the <StoryUrl>

To view stories or headlines available for a specific topic:

Enter the following in the instrument/item field: TOPIC=XXXX (where xxx is the name of the topic you want stories on).

Example: TOPIC=ACCNTING
A list of topics is available upon request. Examples include: INTRANET, FASHION, AUTOFIN, FANNYMAY, ECOMFIN

You will get a list of stories that talk about the topic searched on. For each story the following fields will be provided:

The headline in the < HeadlineText> field
The time the story is released in the <ItemTime>
The provider name in the < ProviderName>: such as Business Wire, AP Online
The story ID in the <storyid>
The story URL in the <StoryUrl>
